Unschool, Martian, and Risqué Stories

29 October 2020

A few days ago, we all got very excited when a box of Frost Hands landed on our doorstep. My daughter Imogen opened it, eager to see the print version of her latest novel for the first time. Would it look good? We all agree that Frost Hands looks fabulous. My daughter Charlotte designed its cover and we love it.

Imogen talks about the exciting arrival of her books in the latest episode of my podcast. Yes, Imogen is joining me again to talk about all kinds of things: play, books, music, exercise, Martians, writing, and movies. Along the way, we share lots of unschooling thoughts and resources, and we tell some stories.

“Can I share my motel exercise story?” I ask Imogen before we begin recording. She doesn’t seem to have heard this story so I tell it, and then I say, “Is it an okay story for a family podcast?”

Imogen giggles and says, “Or is it a bit risqué?”

I did tell the story – I think it’s okay! – and if you’d like to hear it, you’ll find it towards the end of episode 180 of my Stories of an Unschooling Family podcast.

Also, do you have a question for Imogen that she can answer in a future episode?

  1. Wonderful episode as always Sue, love to hear you and Imogen chatting. Your risqué story made me laugh. Quite partial to a walk with Leslie myself, though so far it’s not been as eventful as that one turned out to be 🙂

Am eager to learn more about The War of the Worlds now, but might stick to the study guide rather than the actual book 🙂

    • Hayley,

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us some feedback about our podcast. So glad you enjoyed listening!

I like reading study guides. Sometimes they are more interesting than the books! Another War of the worlds thing we forgot to talk about was Orson Welles’ 1938 radio drama version. Apparently, some listeners missed the introduction and panicked, thinking Martians had actually invaded the earth!
